CLASS - RESPA & YOU
The purpose of this 3 hour class is to provide real estate professionals with the opportunity to increase their knowledge of the Real Estate Settlement & Procedures Act of 1974, along with recent changes to the regulation. Between 2001-2005 many of the states have made changes to their settlement laws. It is everyone’s responsibility to know how each element of our business affects consumers and communities.
CLASS - The Short Sale
Some real estate transactions that seem the most lucrative may also be the most challenging. In this 4 hour course, we will look at a case study & discuss the transaction from several different viewpoints.
CLASS - Title Insurance 101
This complimentary 3 hour class provides a relaxed and friendly dialogue about title insurance and the preliminary title report. This class is for anyone still searching for an easy method of explaining title insurance to home buyers and sellers. This class will be helpful for new and experienced agents seeking knowledge of how others collaborate with their title company during a transaction for success and “peace of mind”.
CLASS - Escrow Scene Investigation
In this 4 hour course, participants will become more aware of common escrow scenarios, how these situations could evolve into possible conflicts, and how to identify and avoid these circumstances well ahead of the closing room.
CLASS - Current Issues in Mortgage Lending
This course will cover current issues in mortgage lending including but not limited to:
- An Update on new proposed Federal Regulation HR3915, Barney Frank’s Mortgage Reform Act
- Compliance issues related to the most recent mortgage broker DFI audit results
- A review of the required state and federal disclosures
- Three legal case studies including re-disclosures, financing contingencies, and advertising
- An overview of the most recent mortgage case to settle here in WA state against Novastar
- An update on Washington State mortgage fraud cases
- Current RESPA case studies
- Radio, print, fax, and Internet advertising issues
CLASS - Ethics in Mortgage Lending
This ethics course is designed to provide a rational framework and methodology for mortgage brokers and loan originators to use in approaching the resolution of ethical problems in the mortgage industry. Attendees will identify important moral values in the practice of mortgage lending, develop an awareness of how others reflect about ethical problems, understand traditional ethical theory and how to apply it in the context of mortgage lending, and improve their ability to speak with others about moral dilemmas and problems.
CLASS - Fiduciary Duties and Informed Consent
Loan originators and mortgage brokers will learn how they are part of an emerging profession. This raises questions about the difference between the traditional retail standard of caveat emptor and professional duties of informed consent. By carefully delineating the difference between non-professionals and professionals, we can begin to analyze the important values and virtues that will bring the industry into a more fully professionalized status. As a part of the class, students will learn how other professional groups, i.e., doctors, lawyers, and CPAs, are charged with higher ethical duties than are non-professionals.
